Fencing Flash Mob, September 7, 2014 E-mail

ALL fencing clubs are encouraged to join. We all love this sport, let's show everyone in town!

The Oregon Division of USA Fencing has partnered with our national fencing governing body and the Italian Fencing Federation in a new initiative – Fencing flash mobs around the world.

On Sept. 7 the Oregon Division will sponsor a fencing flash mob near Powell’s Books to promote the sport, participate in an international project, distribute information about the Division’s clubs and let people know about the upcoming North American Cup on October 10-13.

Interested in joining in the fun? The meeting place is the corner of W Burnside and SW 9th Ave at 10 am on September 7.

Fencers come dressed to fence. Non-fencers bring your camera and your smiles.

Spread the word. We need to create a spectacle. That means dozens and dozens of people dressed in white, all gathered with swords in a prominent location. Don’t know how to fence? We need you anyway!

Clubs all over the country and world will be putting on their own flash mobs on Sept 7th. We want Portland’s to make national news. Fencing is amazing. You know it, we know it. But so few others do. Let’s change that.

PS: We also need people to coordinate with the media. If you have a connection in radio or TV, pick up the phone and make sure they get there on Sept 7th: SPREAD THE WORD
